A 17TH CENTURY OAK YORKSHIRE SIDE CHAIR

This is an exceptionally well presented Yorkshire side chair, these chairs were manufactured primarily in Yorkshire and Derbyshire and are sometimes called Derbyshire chairs a popular design during the 17th Century and were then revived during the 19th Century. This particular chair is believed to have come from the Rothschild collection by repute, possibly from Oare, Wiltshire. It is believed by some people to have Green Man imagery in the carving.
