A 1780s/ 90s gentleman’s vanity table in mahogany with satinwood cross banding. The top folds away to reveal the fitted interior which retains the original compartments and lidded boxes, original slot-in bottles for cologne and a pin cushion over a secret compartment. The hinged mirror (original plate) folds out on an easel, The drawer beneath gives access to an 18th century Chinese porcelain bowl and two water bottles monogrammed “EJ”. On the front are several later children’s graffiti drawings from around 1860, showing details of period clothing, toys and animals as well as some words in French.
