A 19C FRENCH SOLID CAST BRONZE MEDALLION

A 19th century solid cast bronze medallion. Titled, signed and dated 1835 by French sculptor David d’Angers (1788 - 1856), well known for his series of portrait medallions and busts of illustrious men of his time. This fine example is an effigy of the physician and pharmacist Samuel Hahnemann (1755 - 1843) the inventor of Homeopathy. The original bronze hanging loop is in place.
