A Silkscreen print on cotton signed JEAN DENIS MALCLES (1912 - 2002) Printed in 1955 'LE MARCHÉ AUX PUCES' Jean Malcles grew up to become one of the best known painter, poster designer and decorators in mid-20th century France. Brought up in Avignon he first came to prominence in 1935 for the designs he created for the first collection of Pierre Frey. From 1948 - 81 he created more than 200 costumes and decorations for theatre, plays and the opera.
