VENETIAN LANTERN, CIRCA. 1840

A porch candle lantern of hexagonal shape, hand made out of metal and wood, in its original dark green paint finish. Gothic fretwork adorns the top of the panes, most of which retain the original glass. Both the pagoda roof and the bottom have decorative vents in the manner of oriental lanterns. Painted wooden ball finials. On a solid brass chain and ceiling rose. Rewired. Italy around 1840
